Strawberry was a special purchase from a local herd in Douglass, KS. Her dam-line goes back to the same herd as our Ethel, and we wanted to bring more of those genetics into our herd. Strawberry’s sire is a son of the infamous ++*B SGCH Alize Charleston Chew and the beautiful GCH Woest-Hoeve HB Tadpole 3*M.

Strawberry freshened at 18-months old for the first time, with quads! She came into milk wonderfully but has really struggled to regain body condition as putting so much energy into growing those four babies. Her udder is gorgeous and we’re looking forward to seeing her back in full body condition and looking her best again.

Strawberry is on track to meet her *M requirements in all three categories in her first freshening. She gave 7.7 pounds of milk on her first test and has kept that volume up nicely. Udder Photos

We’re (admittedly) not the most skilled at clipping and photographing udders. Please accept our apologies for the lack of skill in these areas, and know that we provide you with the best we’re capable of giving. If at any time you want current udder photos of a doe, just contact us.

Udder- November 2024

~20 DIM, 1st Freshening

Strawberry’s udder has excellent texture, but she has freshened uneveny. We don’t know the cause. We appreciate the size and shape of her teats, the overall udder shape and the strength of her attachements.

Kidding Journal @ Bluestem Acres

2024- Strawberry had a tangled mess of tiny quads, sired by Apollo, for her first freshening. Every single one had to be manipulated for delivery. Her labor had stalled due to the first kid being head and legs back. The second kid was completely sideways. Kid #3 was breech and the last one was head only. Needless to say, her delivery was pretty traumatic and we definitely weren’t prepared for quads from this little first freshener. We didn’t feed her adequately to help her grow four babies, but that was a blessing in disguise because then we were able to manipulate the positions and get them all delivered without vet intervention (C-Section). Had they been larger, we likely would have lost kids or Strawberry. The large litter size has boosted her production to impressive levels and we’re looking forward to seeing further maturity on this doe.

2025- Strawberry will be bred to Food4Thought MardiGras Flasher for fall 2025 kids. Her first doeling will be retained. Any additional kids will be available.
