Eden is a high casein daughter of our beloved Ethel. She has been slower to mature than her dam, lacking the large frame size. Her sire is the wonderful Apollo, and she is the first Apollo daughter we retained in our herd.

Eden freshened at eighteen months old with a large single buckling and a beautiful mammary for a first freshener. Her capacity is a little lower than her production at the moment, and she will leak on a 12-hour fill, just like her dam did at this age. Her teat placement is excellent and her attachment appears to be an improvement over Ethel’s.

Eden is on track to meet her *M requirements in all three categories in her first freshening. She gave 7.4 pounds of milk on her first test and did not fall off much in her subsequent tests. ~20 DIM, 1st Freshening

We love Eden’s udder! So much so that we put her buckling from her first freshening into our buck trade-in program so he can be a herdsire for us in a few years. We do hope to continue to improve teat alignment and height, but we’re well pleased.

Kidding Journal @ Bluestem Acres

2024- Eden delivered a large single buckling, sired by PNP-Legacy Ralph Lauren in her first freshening. He was big enough, she needed a little addistance to get his head crowned appropriately, so he could continue to make progress on delivery. The buckling, registered as Kansas Bluestem RL Earl, entered our buck trade-in program and will likely return to Bluestem Acres as a three year old. Eden’s mammary has been very impressive. Her production has been great, and is currently exceeding her capacity. We expect it to continue to improve through this lactation and future ones.

2025- Eden will be bred to a buck we have returning on our trade-in program fall 2025 kids. Her first doeling will be retained. Any additional kids will be available.
