Kansas Bluestem Nubians
Nubian Junior Does-
presented in order of age
We’re glad you’re interested in learning more about our breeding stock. Junior does are shown on this page, in order of age. Each one has an introductory section here, where you’ll find basic information including whether DNA is on file, known casein alleles and G6S status, the reason we retained her and perhaps her first intended breeding. All ADGA registration numbers are linked to view their pedigree on ADGA Genetics, provided courtesy of Gene Dershewitz & ADGA.
Mature does are shown in order of age on their own page, and receive detail pages once they near the end of their first lactation with us. We can’t forget about the boys- see them on their own Herdsire page. If you are interested in purchasing a mature animal from us, or seeing all the current breeding plans in table form, please see our Breeding Plans page (available mature animals are listed at the bottom of the page in the For Sale section). To see some information on does previously owned, with progeny carrying the Kansas Bluestem herdname, please see our Previous Stock page.
The Hosman Farm Maui Souvenir
ADGA #N2292298
January 24, 2023
Souvenir, or Sue, or Sue-vie, is an exciting young doe, heavy on Redwood Hills genetics. We’re very excited to have her in our herd, and are looking forward to what she adds to our conformation. We think she shows great diaryness, with a long and angular bone pattern and nice legs, but our eye is still “young.” She’s absolutely not cooperative about standing still for photos, so you really have to see her in person to appreciate her quality!
Sue attended two two-ring shows in the spring of 2024 as a senior yearling. The senior yearling classes were quite large, with over 20 goats in the rings of the first event and just under 20 goats in the rings of the second event. Souvenir placed two times 6th (ring 1 and ring 2 of the first event) and two times fourth (ring 1 and ring 2) of the second event. We’re looking forward to seeing her mature and continuing to get her into the ring.
Souvenir- May 2024
DNA on file- no
Alpha-s1 Casein: B/B
G-6-S: Normal (by parentage)
Current Breeding Plans: Sue has been exposed to Flasher for early November 2024 kids. All doe kid reservations are available. Buck kids will only be available as herdsires if her performance as a milker meets our requirements. Contact us to get on the list if you are interested in either a potential buckling or a bottle wether. Please see our breeding plans for information on placing a reservation and what that means in our herd.
Food4Thought Strawberry Chew
ADGA #N2316916
March 8, 2023
Strawberry is a special outside addtion to our herd for 2023. Her pedigree goes back to the 4RS herd, which is the same herd our beloved Ethel's maternal granddam came from. We’re really looking forward to having 4RS genetics deeper in our doe herd. To add to it, Strawberry is sired by *B Cherokee Rose CC Archimedes, an ++B SGCH Alize Charleston Chew son.
Strawberry hit two show rings as a senior dry yearling in Spring of 2024. The classes were huge (20+ does) and she was on the small side of the group in size. She placed in the bottom 25% in each ring, but we’re not letting that convince us she doesn’t have potential. We expect that with more maturity, she’ll move up in placings.
Strawberry- October 2023
DNA on file- no
Alpha-s1 Casein: B/B
G-6-S: Normal (by test)
Current Breeding Plans: Straberry has been exposed to Apollo for an early November kidding. All kid reservations are available. Check our breeding plans to see info on pricing and purchasing a bottle kid from us.
RDR NE Coffee Bean
ADGA #N2390064
March 29, 2023
Coffee Bean was purchased from Jena Raymer of Oklahoma as a birthday gift for our youngest herdsman, Kathryn, in 2024. We chose Coffee Bean due to the success that her littermate sister, paternal sisters and maternal sisters have had in the show ring as both junior and senior does. We expect Coffee to freshen with an excellent mammary system, and have a style that performs well in the ring.
Coffee Bean- July 2024
DNA on file- no
Alpha-s1 Casein: unknown
G-6-S: Normal (by parentage)
Current Breeding Plans: Coffee will be AI’d this fall for a March or April 2025 freshening. Currently, we’ve selected Blissberry MW Rock Cliff as the AI sire. First doe kid will be retained. Second doe kid and buck reservations will be available once the breeding has been confirmed via bloodtest. See our breeding plans page to see what reservations mean in our herd.
The HBRB Maple
ADGA #N2395499
April 7, 2023
Maple is a doe that we bought from a friend in northern Kansas who was selling out her herd. Maple’s dam, Kansas Bluestem Clarice, is maternal sister to our Ethel, and paternal sister to Phortune and Empanada. Maple’s sire, Cozy Meadow Canadian Mist, is littermate to Cozy Meadow Royal N Ice (sire to Rocking Goat Farms LuckyClover) and shares genetics with our junior herdsire, Cozy Meadow Maximum Chrome. We expect Maple to be a great blend of high production and great conformation genetics.
Maple- July 2024
DNA on file- no
Alpha-s1 Casein: unknown
G-6-S: Normal (by parentage)
Current Breeding Plans: Maple is exposed to Ralph for a mid-October 2024 kidding. All kid reservations are avaialble. Please see our breeding plans for information on placing a reservation and what that means in our herd.
Kansas Bluestem Sunkissed Eden
ADGA #N002296717
April 24, 2023
Eden is a beautiful black roan daughter of Ethel and Apollo. At first we weren’t planning to retain another daughter of Ethel until her first daughter freshened, but when Ethel made the ‘22 ADGA Elite list, we changed our minds. Eden was the third out, of triplets, and is the smallest in stature of her littermates, but she’s making up for it in spunk. We’re looking forward to seeing this girl grow up!
Eden- October 2023
DNA on file- no
Alpha-s1 Casein: B/B
G-6-S: N/N (normal by test)
Current Breeding Plans: Eden has been exposed to Ralph for early November 2024 kids. All kids will be available and reservations will be open once breeding is confirmed. See our breeding plans page to see what reservations mean in our herd.
Kansas Bluestem P-Nut Empanada
ADGA #N2326392
June 6, 2023
Emp is a much anticipated doe kid from Evangeline and sired by P-Nut as she is our first AS1C N/N doe in the herd! Emp improves over her dam in “squareness” of rear legs (i.e. not hocky) and has a beautiful neck and shoulder, but is defintely lacking the width we see in our other lines. We’re looking forward to seeing her grow and watching her become the first foundation doe of our AS1C N/N line.
Empanada- October 2023
DNA on file- no
Alpha-s1 Casein: N/N
G-6-S: N/N (normal by parentage)
Current Breeding Plans: Empanada was exposed to Apollo for a mid-October 2024 kidding. All kid reservations are available. Check our breeding plans page to see pricing and other information.
Kansas Bluestem Sunkissed Lulu
ADGA #N2376568
December 29, 2023
Lulu- Sept 2024
DNA on file- yes
Alpha-s1 Casein: B/N
G-6-S: Normal (by test)
Lulu is a daughter of paternal siblings Over the Moon KUL Fantasy and Over the Moon KUL Apollo. While the mating that producer her was accidental, we’re not displeased with the results. She has shown nice balance throughout her growth stages and caught the eye of the judges in the ring (placing one time 4th and one time 6th in large classes). We intend to freshen Lulu as a yearling.
Current Breeding Plans: Lulu will be bred to freshen as a yearling. We hope for a March kidding, with kids sired by herdsire, Food4Thought MardiGras Flasher. Reservations will be open for all kids once the breeding is confirmed. Please see our breeding plans for information on placing a reservation and what that means in our herd.
Kansas Bluestem JustALuckyDuck
ADGA #N2352415
January 4, 2024
Ducky- September 2024
DNA on file- no
Alpha-s1 Casein: A/A, A/B or B/B (by parentage)
G-6-S: Normal (by test)
Ducky is one of two wildly spotted twin does from Clover in 2024. From the very beginning, she was more growthy and had the powerful frame we’re looking to produce. She’s continued to grow nicely, albeit much faster than her contemporaries and we plan to freshen her as a yearling. Ducky saw the show ring at the Green Country Dairy Goat show in Stillwell, OK in May of 2024. She placed one time third (Ring 1- Jay Rudolph) and one time first (Ring 2- Marissa Shivers) over a class of 12 senior kids. We also took her to the Kansas State Fair in September, where she took 3rd Senior Kid, under Grace Toy. We hope she freshens with a mammary like her sire’s dam-line and continues to develop a topline and rump like her maternal granddam. She’s one to watch in the future!
Current Breeding Plans: Ducky will be exposed to Cozy Meadow Maximum Chrome in October, for March 2025 kids. It’s possible that Chrome won’t yet be willing to cover does, and if that is the case, her back-up date is Food4Thought MardiGras Flasher. Reservations will be open for all kids once the breeding is confirmed. Please see our breeding plans for information on placing a reservation and what that means in our herd.
Kansas Bluestem JustAnEpiphany
ADGA #N2276806
Janurary 6, 2024
Ephinany is a well balanced and lengthy doe out of Memory. We hope that Player added the strength and width that Memory lacked. Epiphany has been on the smaller side of our kids, but has grown with ice balance and correctness. She placed three times 4th and one time 8th as a senior kid at spring shows; then took 2nd Senior Kid at the Kansas State Fair in September 2024. She keeps getting better as she matures! We’re looking forward to getting her back to the show ring with more maturity.
Epiphany- March 2024
DNA on file- no
Alpha-s1 Casein: A/B or B/B (by parentage)
G-6-S: Normal (by parentage)
Current Breeding Plans: We plan to freshen Epiphany as a yearling, and will expose her to Over the Moon KUL Apollo for March 2025 kids. First and second doe kid reservations will be open once the pregnancy is confirmed via bloodtest. Buck kids will only be available as herdsires if her performance as a milker meets our requirements. Contact us to get on the list if you are interested in either a potential buckling or a bottle wether. Please see our breeding plans for information on placing a reservation and what that means in our herd.
Kansas Bluestem JustUrOldFlame
ADGA #N2374670
February 27, 2024
Flame is the first retained daughter of Camelot Cattle Co Cinder. She was a single doe kid, and while we had hoped for a higher multiple from Cinder, we were thrilled she gave us a doeling. Flame catches everyone’s eye with her wild spots, but we expect she’ll be a showstopper in udder and production once mature. We plan to freshen her as a yearling. Flame took 5th place Senior kid under Grace Toy at the 2024 Kansas State Fair. We’re really looking forward to maturity and milk production from this one!
Flame- July 2024
DNA on file- no
Alpha-s1 Casein: B/B
G-6-S: Normal (by parentage)
Current Breeding Plans: Flame will be bred for March 2025 kids to PNP-Legacy Ralph Lauren. This should produce an incredibly milky offspring. All doe kids are available for reservation once the pregnancy has been confirmed via bloodtest. Buck kids will only be available as herdsires if her performance as a milker meets our requirements. Contact us to get on the list if you are interested in either a potential buckling or a bottle wether. Please see our breeding plans for information on placing a reservation and what that means in our herd.
Kansas Bluestem RubyRedSunrise
ADGA #N2374669
March 31, 2024
We were given the opportunity to lease Sunrise’s dam, Hawkeye Farm Midnight Kahlua, from a friend for the 23-24 breeding season. Midnight freshened with only a single, but at least it was a single doe kid. Sunrise is our first retained daughter of PNP-Legacy Ralph Lauren (since his other pairings didn’t produce doe kids!) and we like what we see so far. Sunrise is a strong doe who carries herself on straight and correct feet and legs. She’s a very growthy girl and hit 90lbs by 6 months of age. As a result, we’ve decided to freshen her as a young yearling.
Sunrise- August 2024
DNA on file- no
Alpha-s1 Casein: unknown
G-6-S: Normal (by parentage)
Current Breeding Plans: We plan to breed Sunrise to Over the Moon KUL Apollo for April 2025 kids. Doe kid reservations will be open once the pregnancy has been confirmed via boodtest. Buck kids will only be available as herdsires if her performance as a milker meets our requirements. Contact us to get on the list if you are interested in either a potential buckling or a bottle wether. Please see our breeding plans for information on placing a reservation and what that means in our herd.
Kansas Bluestem PhruitSmoothie
ADGA #N2376569
JApril 13, 2024
Smoothie is a very long and dairy kid. She’s one of the “special” ones in our herd who is AS1C N/N, meaning she’ll produce milk that’s “more allergen friendly” once she joins our milking string. We hope her milk volume holds up to that of her maternal granddam, Ethel, and we would like to see her grow into a strong doe like her paternal granddam, Over the Moon KUL Fantasy.
Smoothie- August2024
DNA on file- no
Alpha-s1 Casein: N/N
G-6-S: Normal (by parentage)
Current Breeding Plans: We plan to freshen Smoothie in October of 2025 with kids by Cozy Meadow Maximum Chrome. Doe kid reservations will be open once the pregnancy is confirmed via bloodtest. Buck kids will only be available as herdsires if her performance as a milker meets our requirements. Contact us to get on the list if you are interested in either a potential buckling or a bottle wether. Please see our breeding plans for information on placing a reservation and what that means in our herd.
Kitkats Sunkissed Auxesia
ADGA #N2376566
April 15, 2024
Aux is one of the first goats with our second herd name, “Kitkats.” At birth, we were certain Aux was a buck kid because she just had a masculine head and shoulder assembly. We were excited when we did not find external parts! Aux’s dam, Haweye Farm PBF Demeter, is a doe we leased for one breeding season, with the hope of getting a doe kid to start Kathryn’s show string. Aux’s sire, Apollo, complements that dam-line well, and we’re excited to see how this girl does in the ring. Due to her late season birthday, she didn’t see any spring shows, but we might get her out to a few fairs this fall season.
Aux- September 2024
DNA on file- no
Alpha-s1 Casein: unknown
G-6-S: Normal (by parentage)
Current Breeding Plans: We plan to freshen Aux in the fall of 2025. We haven’t determined which buck we will expose her to for October 2025 kids.
Kitkats Sunkissed Persephone
ADGA #N2376565
April 15, 2024
Sephy is littermate sister to Aux, and has been the complete opposite of her sister since birth. Sephy is petitite and feminine, lacking the strength and substance we’re striving for, but she won Kathryn’s heart with her gentle coloring and solid brown ears. Sephy has grown well and is showing more balance and correctness to her frame, than her sister. It will be interesting to watch them mature, since they have been so different as kids.
Sephy- September 2024
DNA on file- no
Alpha-s1 Casein: unknown
G-6-S: Normal (by parentage)
Current Breeding Plans: Due to her small size, we don’t intend to freshen Sephy as a yearling. Our breeding plans will be updated with her planned 2026 kids when we have them completed in summer of 2025.
Locust Creek MS Friend in Me
ADGA #N2389107
April 15, 2024
Friend was a semi-unplanned addition to our herd in the Spring of 2024. Her breeder, Heather Eby/Locust Creek, had a single kid born just days before leaving for vacation (and the same day as Aux and Sephy were born), so we agreed to kid-sit for her while she was gone. Then Heather got the AS1C test results telling us that Friend was a doe that would fit right into our bredding “side-project” of a line of AS1C N/N Nubians. So, we decided that Friend may as well just stay forever!
Friend’s sire and dam are both from the well-known Blissberry herd. Her sire, Blissberry Macapuno Sunrise is son of the up and coming Blissberry Coconut Cooler, son of Wingwood Farm TL Atlas. Friend’s dam goes back to both Blissberry Sonic Boom and Blissberry Rock Hard, the first Nubian sire to have three Ex93 daughters. We are delighted to have these “outside” genetics in our herd and look forward to what she brings to our milkroom.
Friend- May 2024
DNA on file- no
Alpha-s1 Casein: N/N
G-6-S: Normal (by parentage)
Current Breeding Plans: We expect to freshen Friend in October of 2025, depending on her growth rate. We expect to breed her to PNP-Legacy Ralph Lauren, if she’s large enough. Doe kid reservations will be open once the pregnancy is confirmed. Buck kids will only be available as herdsires if her performance as a milker meets our requirements. Contact us to get on the list if you are interested in either a potential buckling or a bottle wether. Please see our breeding plans for information on placing a reservation and what that means in our herd.
