Kansas Bluestem Nubians
Previously Owned Nubian Does-
presented in order of birthdate
On this page you’ll find brief information on does that we have previously owned. Animals are featured on this page if they have offspring that carry the Kansas Bluestem Herdname, whether those offspring are still working in our herd or working in other herds. Information shown here includes whether DNA is on file, known casein alleles and G6S status, plus relevant LA scores and a profile picture. For does, we have tried to include an udder picture. All ADGA registration numbers are linked to view their pedigree on adgagenetics.com, provided courtesy of Gene Dershewitz & ADGA. Does are shown first, in order of birthdate. Followed by bucks, in order of birthdate. Bucks with the Kansas Bluestem herdname may also have pictures of their dam’s udders included, or a daughter, where possible.

Fantasy is a wide and easy keeper of a doe, bred by Ashley of Over the Moon Nubian Dairy Goats. Ashley states that she is has always outproduced herself in her offspring. Her dam line and sire line both go back to Goldthwaite genetics. Fantasy shows a nice, wide udder with a beautiful arch. Her rear legs are set nicely with good angles, and we appreciate the dairy quality and texture of her udder. Fantasy is a bit shy, but she’s stuck around because she’s one of our AS1C N-allele carriers we’re using as a foundation for our low-casein genetics.

Progeny in our herd: Phortune (‘23), Lulu (‘24)
Fantasy was sold in spring of 2024 to the Udderly Divine Creamery in Missiouri because of her behavior on the milkstand. She’s a gorgeous doe and we hope she continues to give them beautiful offspring for years to come.

Karma is maternal sister to our first buck, Zao Hot Fudge. She brings the sweet personality and excellent milking of their dam's genetics further into our herd, and adds on a wonderful sire-side pedigree. Karma is granddaughter to SGCH ++*B Wingwood Farm Finding Atlantis (EX 91 VEE), who has some amazing progeny working in other herds. His descendants carry the upright, modern Nubian style we love. Karma's pedigree is packed with plenty of 91 appraisal scores, and we hope to see that carried into her offspring. Karma milks very easily with wonderfully placed teats, of great length. She's eager to milk but doesn’t have the biggest/fastest let downs, which can make emptying her at peak a bit time consuming… since she peaks at over 14.0lbs per day. We hope to improve on her rump width and angle with our breedings, without sacrificing her amazing teats. We actually do not have any offspring of Karma’s working in our herd. Her daughter, Kansas Bluestem Serendipity (G6S N/G), is in NE, and one day we might seek a doeling back from her. Her daughter, Sweet-B’s Calamity Jane (G6S N/N), was sold to a show herd in MO, which has now dispersed and we’ve lost track of Jane. For a variety of reasons, Karma was sold in 2023 at the beginning of her lacatation after prematurely delivering quads. We definitely miss her milk in our milkpail!

Astrid is a SG My-Enchanted-Acres LM Candyman granddaughter on her dam side, and a SGCH +*B Lucky Amadeus granddaughter on her sire side. She is a small doe and has been slow to mature in body capacity. Though she likely will not mature to be of great height, as her dam and sire are not tall, we expect a wonderful length and width of body, with nice dairy quality. Her dam, SG Wingwood Farm Sweet Anise, boasts a large udder with great capacity, beautiful arch and nice medial. Astrid received the arch and has teats that are very easy to milk with large orifices. She lets down rapidly and empties nicely.
We retained a daughter (Agatha- now in another herd) and a son (Apollo) from her litter here. We have used Apollo extensively as his conformation and style match what we’d like to see. Astrid’s overall production wasn’t as high as we like, and she also contracted mastitis in May of 2022 (2.5 months into her lactation) and one side stopped producing. For this reason, we moved Astrid on to another herd that didn’t also have a business of selling milk. She has been an excellent brood doe for them. Kansas Bluestem Hot Ahsoka, born in 2023, is working in a herd in Eastern Kansas.

Memory is a gorgeous black roan doe who started life with the Redwood Hills herd in California. She came to us by way of Arkansas after spending a little over a year at Hosman Farms. Memory comes from a long line of beautiful does and her sire does as well. We love her dairy character and the shape of her head and neck. She’s matured a lot over the last year (since photo at left) and now looks like the lovely doe her pedigree indicates. Her udder is a nice texture but her volume isn’t quite where we’d like it to be. For that reason, we’re retaing some daughters and letting her move onward.
More photos and information available on a detailed page, accessible here.
Memory was sold in the spring of 2024 to the Udderly Divine Creamery in Missouri. While we loved her attitude, her milk production and strength were not quite what we wanted to continue to add to our herd. We have two daughters, both of whom are an imrovement over their dam in strength, to carry her bloodline forward in our herd. We also have a buckling, littermate brother to Souvenir, who is not far away, if we ever want to utilize her genetics in that way.

Clover was the runt of a triplet litter out of Mimi by Cozy Meadow Royal N Ice (bred by Deb Boller, of Reece, KS), born on St. Patrick's Day. She won the kids' hearts, with her quirky spots and personality, so despite being the runt, she’s the one who stuck around. Clover has grown nicely and you wouldn’t know she started life off so small if you looked at her today. As a yearling milker she achieved the *M requirements in all three categories, and peaked at almost 10lbs per day in her second freshening (with a single kid!). I love milking her udder; it is super soft and pliable, but firm enough that her long and wide teats are easy to grasp and aim. She has a nice rear udder and an improved foreudder over her dam, but we’re hoping to put a little better depth of body in her offpspring with the right breedings.
More information and photos available on a detail page, available here.
We did not intend to let Clover go, but due to Mandisa not giving us a doe kid, we needed to find a doe to fill a “milking doe” reservation in the Spring of 2024. Since Clover blessed us with both Lucky and Ducky, she drew the short straw, but she’s not very far away and we just might purchase another daughter of hers one day.

Evangeline is one of Ethel's 2022 triplet does, sired by Amadeus. She is the only one who inherited the "N" AS1C allele, and she is also G6S normal. Ethel is a wonderful milker and we are very, very excited about having a daughter in the herd as well. Amadeus appears to have added great dairyness to her conformation, as well as udder height and smootheness of foreudder. If we could improve a few things on Evangeline, we’d add more width in her rear and correct her legs to be square, instead of hocky on the rear and toe-out on the fore.
Evengline was a very nice doe, but being a middle of the road casein producer who had already given us two low-casein daughters, we decided to move her on to a new herd. She now resides with Clover in a nice homestead about two hours away.
